I'm not even going to describe how much work I've had to do in the past month, but I would have been sunk were it not for Flylady. I've been using my timer at work. Am I the only person who does this? I set it for fifteen minutes, work on one task for that time and when the timer goes off, I switch to another task. That's the only thing that's kept me sane. I can't think too hard about how much I have to do, I just have to nibble away at it.
But this weekend, I managed to meet up with some folks from the Cape and Islands Knitting List at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow. That was a lot of fun, so cool to do fiber stuff with people that appreciate fiber stuff and also get out of the house once in awhile. I hope we'll do it again and get more people involved.
Saturday, I went to Lady Bug Knitting and I'm now entangled with mohair yarn (Classic Elite La Gran Mohair) for this project. The mohair is really too fuzzy to make the pattern come out properly (boo), but it's so wonderfully warm and pleasant to touch (yay). The colors are less and less "me" though, hmmm.
I've been requesting a lot of books from the library. Reading is a great stress reducer for me, and our local library system is very useful. You can log in online and request books and pick them up at a particular branch. Recently I've read,
Knitting Sutra. I tried to like this book because this woman is pouring out her heart and soul on how knitting was part of her spiritual development, but ugh. Boring indulgent twaddle.
Basic Beadwork for Beginners. A generic title that gives no indication of the adorable beaded projects within. The book is Japanese and the projects are from the land of Hello Kitty; whimsical three-Dimensional figures and animals formed out of wire and beads. Each section has a theme, such as Doll Festival, Japanese New Year and the Wizard of Oz. I can't imagine actually making any of these, it's just not the type of thing I do when beading, but I'm really glad to have seen the book.
A Gathering of Lace. Lovely lace knitting porn. Beautiful projects, beautifully photographed. Includes galleries of such magnificant oddities as Debbie New's coracle made out of knitted lace and fiberglass resin. Yes, coracle. As in boat that floats on the water.
